2021 MHSFHA Division 1 Champions: Ann Arbor Skyline

Ann Arbor Skyline wins first  MHSFHA Division 1 championship

Second-seeded Ann Arbor Skyline edged top-seeded Ann Arbor Pioneer 4-3 in overtime to win its first Michigan High School Field Hockey Association Division 1 championship. Skyline won Division 2 championships in 2019 and 2013. Pioneer came into the championship game a perfect 16-0-0, including handing Skyline (15-2-1) its only two regular season losses. In the championship game, Skyline led 3-2 at halftime. Pioneer tied the game in the second half to force overtime. Cameron Wiseman scored with 4:32 left in sudden-death overtime off an assist from Sadie Schultz for the game-winning goal for the Eagles. Wiseman also scored in the first period. Corinne Courtright and Morgan Nalepa added goals in the first half for Skyline. Chaira Bichakjian and Wiseman both added two assists. Madeleine Willacker earned the victory in goal for Skyline. Pioneer beat defending champion Dexter 3-0 and Skyline beat Saline 7-0 in the semifinals to advance. Skyline outscored playoff opponents 19-3.

Grosse Pointe South wins first  MHSFHA Division 2 championship

Top-seeded Grosse Pointe South shut out Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood 3-0 to win its first Michigan High School Field Hockey Association Division 2 championship. South won a Division 1 championship in 2004. Katelyn Carion opened the scoring for South with 9:17 left in the first period. South added two goals in the fourth quarter (Moira Hix, 9:43, and Molly Ryszewski, 7:43) to secure the victory. Elise Charbonneau earned the victory in goal. South beat Chelsea 1-0 and Cranbrook beat East Grand Rapids 1-0 in the semifinals to advance.
