   Top-seeded Grosse Pointe South shut out third-seeded Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood 3-0 to win its first Michigan High School Field Hockey Association Division 2 championship on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Chelsea.

   South won a Division 1 championship in 2004.

   Katelyn Carion opened the scoring for South with 9:17 left in the first quarter. South added two goals in the fourth quarter (Moira Hix, 9:43,

and Molly Ryszewski, 7:43) to secure the victory. Elise Charbonneau earned the victory in goal.

   South beat Chelsea 1-0 and Cranbrook beat East Grand Rapids 1-0 in the semifinals to advance.

   South outscored its four playoff opponents 11-2, beating Wixom St. Catherine of Siena 4-2 in the quarterfinals, and Pinckney 3-0 in the opening round.

   South finished its season 16-2-1.
