   Wixom St. Catherine of Siena Academy won its second-straight Catholic High School league Cardinal Division field hockey championship, beating Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard 1-0 on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood.

   Senior Elizabeth Lilley scored the game-winner for St. Catherine with 1:40 left in the first half.

   Junior Bella Lardin and senior Anne Marie Clinger combined for the

shutout in goal for the Stars.

   St. Catherine edged Bloomfield Hills Academy of the Sacred Heart 7-1 in the semifinals on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Gabriel Richard beat Ann Arbor Greenhills 2-1 in a shootout in its semifinal.

   St. Catherine (10-1-0) faces CHSL Bishop Division champion Bloomfield Hills Marian (9-2-0) on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The Michigan High School Field Hockey Association playoffs begin later this month.
