Grosse Pointe South players celebrate senior captain Kate Skupien’s (15) game-winning goal against Warren Regina on Wednesday.

   Grosse Pointe South opened its Michigan High School Field Hockey Association season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Division 2 East rival Warren Regina on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Regina.

   After a scoreless first half, Blue Devil senior captain Kate Skupien scored the game-winner early in the half.

 

 

 Junior Elise Charbonneau earned the shutout in goal for Grosse Pointe South.

   South (1-0-0) hosts rival Grosse Pointe North on Monday, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m.  Regina travels to Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard on Friday, Sept. 11.
